Seed Cleaning

Our farm does more than just raise cattle, we also grow a variety of crops. This year we grew wheat, sorghum and milo. Part of the crop we raise we keep as seed for the fall planting, that is the case for the wheat in the pictures below. In order to make sure the cleaning is effective we have a company come clean and treat the seed we will plant in the coming months.
The purpose of cleaning is to sort off small or broken seeds and chaff so that only the good seed is left for planting.
Treating the seed is an important part of the cleaning process. The treatment you can see is a coating that looks red in the pictures. This coating protects each seed while it is being stored. This is not a treatment for fertilizing it had micronutrients to help the seed germinate.
Here are some pictures of the process.
